omerna

Omerna is developing a first in class dsRNA based anti-fungal crop protection solution.

Our solutions are targeted, non-GMO and non-toxic and can be combined with traditional fungicides for improved efficacy.

We are focusing on our first product, however, the technology can be adapted to a wide range of pathogenic fungi for field and shelf life extension.

Partner with us for tailored solutions for crop loss due to fungal pathogens.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 30–40% of total production is lost along the supply chain. Post harvest losses can reach as high as 40–50%, causing financial losses of approximately $940B US a year. Most plant diseases are caused by pathogenic fungi. However, most legacy chemical fungicides are detrimental to the environment, cause pathogen resistance and lose efficacy over time. Finally, regulation is moving away from traditional fungicides, thus leading to even more losses due to a lack of effective fungicides.

Backed by the InNegev technological incubator, the Israeli Innovation Authority and the European EIT and working closely with leading academic and industrial partners.

Our technology is based on double stranded RNA (dsRNA) and targets natural RNA Interference (RNAi) mechanisms. We combine dsRNA with a protective carrier to enable slow release over time in a controlled manner. Our crop protection products can be applied alone or combined with industry standard chemical fungicides to increase overall efficacy while reducing MRLs with a wide range of hosts.

Short turn around time from problem to initial testing
Combine with traditional fungicides

Wide range of hosts.
High efficacy in commercial settings.

Our mission is to reduce crop loss by developing targeted dsRNA based solutions that inhibit fungal pathogens.
Our vision is to replace industry standard chemicals and reduce crop loss due to fungal pathogens. We were founded in 2023, based on technology developed by the Volcani and Weizmann Institutes.
